For this Tuesday’s #ToxinFreeLivingTip, avoid smoke flavorings in your food! According to a 2019 John Hopkins study, liquid smoke flavorings have been directly linked to severe DNA damage, and they are known to activate the cancer-linked p53 gene.

☢ Smoke flavorings contain both pyrogallol and gallic acid, which is also found in hair dye, cigarette smoke, tea, and coffee. Scientists believe these chemicals to be the culprit of DNA damage, due to tea and coffee having similar effects to the p53 gene.
